The Vacaville Unified School District welcomes the new Governing Board Trustee representing District 4, Lindsay Kelly. Kelly won a special election and filled one of the two open seats on the board and will hold office until the term ends in November of 2024.
Kelly’s passion for schools goes back to her days as a high school student. “I proudly served on the School Site Council at Dixon High School (DHS) and as the Student Liaison to the Dixon Downtown Business Association. I swam and played basketball and volleyball.
I received scholarships from The Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Dixon Soroptimist Club, and the Sparling Scholarship, which allowed me to attend UC Davis at 16 after I graduated from DHS,” shared Kelly.
She has also remained committed to giving back to her local community through her volunteering in her children’s schools as well as with a variety of organizations such as the Solano Land Trust, the International Bird Rescue and Research Center, the Oiled Wildlife Care Network, and UC Davis Veterinary Hospital.
Lindsay Kelly is a commercial large loss insurance adjuster and the mother of three children.
“As a school board member, I plan to offer my constituents and the community the opportunity to be kept apprised of important issues and to encourage parents and community members to be more engaged. Most households include two working adults. Add extracurriculars, religious and volunteer obligations, overtime, shift work, and multiple children’s schedules. It can be overwhelming! Parental/Guardian involvement is crucial to our student’s success, and, as a mom, I would like to support others to find any way in which they can be more involved to improve student success for all students residing within VUSD's boundaries.”
